Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
Is Scripa’s HOPE a school?
We are diligently working with the New York State Department of Education on gaining recognition and accreditation as a P-12 nonpublic school. In the meantime, Scripa’s HOPE is an educational learning center. HOPE is a homeschooling-hybrid learning center. Families enrolled in HOPE will enroll their students as a homeschooler with their residential district. Our team will help you every step of the way. As a homeschooling-hybrid learning center, Scripa’s HOPE can legally teach groups of students, but not for the majority of the required hours and subjects. Our 4 day model allows us to follow these guidelines. Click here to learn more about homeschooling in New York.
Is Scripa’s HOPE affordable?
Accessibility is one of our core values and being affordable to families is important to us. With our blended approach of homeschooling and traditional schooling, we are able to offer competitive tuition rates. We offer various program options to help accomodate homeschooling families and remain budget friendly!
What about snacks and lunch?
Students are responsible for bringing in their own lunch. A mid-morning snack will be provided. Precautions with food allergies will be taken.
Are students required to get the Covid vaccination?
No. Scripa’s HOPE does not require students to get the COVID vaccination.
Do you offer extra-curricular activities?
Our daily instruction includes lots of movement, singing, and hands-on-learning. We do not have formal art, music, or PE classes because we want to adhere to NYS homeschool regulations (HOPE cannot teach the majority of subjects).
Families are encouraged to sign up their children for community leagues and sports. Pop Warner football and cheerleading, ULA youth lacrosse, dance teams, Upward Cheer and Basketball, the YMCA, Light of the World Ballet, and Optimist basketball are great options to cover the PE and even music and arts portion of instruction! We are happy to help families find a program that matches their child!
What curriculum do you use?
Scripa’s HOPE uses a team of educators to choose the most engaging and appropriately rigorous curriculum that complements our core values and biblical worldview.
Elementary students use a combination of Abeka, Apologia, The Good and the Beautiful, Words Their Way, Really Great Reading, Math Mammoth, Mystery Science, and Learning without Tears.
Middle School students enroll in online schooling. Highly qualified tutors provide instruction for our older students. Participation in project based learning supplements their online learning!
What about transportation?
Families are responsible for all transportation to and from HOPE.
